Penn Fishing
Tackle Manufacturing Company is an American company that is primarily known as a
manufacturer of fishing reels and fishing rods. It sprouted from the
idealism of a German immigrant named Otto Henze who came to America from
Germany in 1922. Henze had the idea, or rather the dream of having his own
company that would manufacture almost all types of fishing reels that would
leave a mark in the fishing world. Even though this was during the Great Depression, Penn reel
sales were not hurt because fishing provided a way for coastal families to eat.
Production of the “Squidder” surf reel in
1938 paved the way for Penn to be the leading manufacturer of quality saltwater
fishing reels. This reels is primarily
known for its vast casting capabilities. This model of Penn reels became the
most popular to anglers and charter boat captains. Today, there are only a few
models of the “Squidder” that are still around, all known for their high
performance.

ryobi
electric reel
Ryobi Limited is a power
tool manufacturer that used to sell fishing reels back in the days. The company
sold its tackle division to Johshuya company in 2000. Before then, they offered
an electric powered reel intended to help anglers with reduced arm power. The
electric reels of Ryobi allowed physically challenged anglers to continue deep
sea fishing.
The Ryobi electric reel has a level wind feature that
prevented line from bunching up on one side of the spool as it was reeled in.
There is an over winding prevention device, and an alarm letting the angler
know when the line is getting low. The maximum battery winding power was 30
kilograms. The reel could be connected to a 12-volt power source using a power
cord. The winding speed under electric power was 80---140 meters per minute,
while the weight of the reel was 1610 grams, with a gear ratio of 1 to 2.3.
